A workshop took place at le Barp, on 21 January 2009, on astrophysics related to the PETAL project. The various french scientific projects were presented. Two main areas were identified: the dynamic aspects of a part (jets, radiative shocks, hydrodynamic instabilities, etc.) and opacities. The advantages of the PETAL facility have been highlighted in this context.
